This is the second class in the Introduction to Sewing series. In the first class we cleaned and oiled the sewing machine and replaced the needle using supplies from our supplied kit for the class. We also discussed different common types of scissors, rotary cutters and mats and went on to practice a method of squaring up fabric in preparation for cutting.
This class will focus on accurate cutting and seaming. We’ll discuss the impacts of accumulative errors and how to avoid them. The pillowcase is a great project for this exercise. There are few seams, but they have enough length that it is easy to see variance from your seam line. We’ll discuss fixes for different types of issues…when it’s best to use a seam ripper or fudge & tweak a correction to the seam. In the end you’ll have a beautiful pillowcase. When you make one, you’ll want to make another, and they make great gifts!
This class is offered as a day or evening class. Instructor: Marcie McDonald
Class Fee $20 includes a kit and a $5 coupon toward a purchase of $50 or more.
NOTE: Classes in the Introduction to Sewing series build upon each other, but can be taken independently of the others.
