This is the fourth and final class in the Introduction to Sewing series. In the first class we cleaned and oiled the sewing machine and replaced the needle using supplies from our supplied kit for the class. We also discussed different common types of scissors, rotary cutters and mats and went on to practice a method of squaring up fabric in preparation for cutting. The second class focused on accurate seaming by making a pillowcase and the third class focused on detailed processes.
In this fourth class we will cover reading a pattern for making apparel. Fabric and thread will be discussed in some detail, such as thread weight and thread count. You will copy a paper pattern for pajama bottoms onto a non-woven fabric so that you can use it again and again. You have a choice of any fabric in the shop and it will be discounted for class participants.
This class is offered as a day or evening class. Instructor: Marcie McDonald
Class Fee $20 plus class pattern. Fee includes a non-woven pattern grid and a $5 coupon.
NOTE: Classes in the Introduction to Sewing series build upon each other, but can be taken independently of the others.
