This is a beginner class for anyone new to sewing or hasn’t sewn in many years. Get reacquainted with your machine and get it ready for your next projects. Also learn about basic sewing tools such as scissors, rotary cutters and mats.
In the first half of this class you will clean and oil your machine as well as change the needle. Sitting idle for months and years allows the internal parts to dry out. A drink of oil here and there really hits the spot. Even if you do use your machine occasionally, these few steps will make such a difference for you!
The second half will be dedicated to scissors, rotary cutters and mats. We will show different types of each and discuss their benefits and drawbacks. Using a rotary cutter, you’ll also learn the principle of sizing up your fabric in preparation to cut. This preparation step is relavent regardless of whether you are preparing to cut with scissors or a rotary cutter.
The class is offered as a day or evening class. Instructor: Marcie McDonald
Class Fee $20 includes a kit and a $5 coupon toward a purchase of $50 or more. The kit is a $10.00 value that includes sewing machine oil, 1 needle and a combo needle threader/needle inserter.
NOTE: This introductory level course is the first in a series. Classes in the Introduction to Sewing series build upon each other, but can be taken independently.
